CPL Training
The course needed for obtaining a Concealed Pistol License in the State of Michigan is the NRA’s Personal Protection In The Home. This course takes between 8-10 hours and REQUIRES shooting. Private sessions of this course are available.
Pre-Requisites
Personal Protection In The Home is for students with at least a fundamental knowledge of firearm safety, handling, and shooting. This is NOT an “intro to handguns” course. If you are a first-time shooter, I strongly recommend that you take the NRA Basic Pistol course before taking this course.
Cost
- Private Session: $225 total for 1-3 Students. There is a $75 cost for each additional student.
- Open Session: An open session (meaning a session I have already scheduled and has open seats available) of this course is $85 per student. At this time I am not conducting Open Sessions due to the number of times that only one person shows up and I have to run an 8-hour course for $85 less expenses.
This cost includes reference materials, range time, and lunch (contact me if you have dietary restrictions)
What To Bring
Required Items:
- Government-issued photo ID
- Eye Protection (prescription eyeglasses with lenses less than 1.5″ tall do not meet this requirement)
- Ear Protection (earmuffs are recommended instead of ear plugs, but either is acceptable)
- Notebook & Pen/Pencil
- Handgun (any caliber is acceptable, I encourage you to bring the one you intend to carry)
- Clothing for the weather (the shooting portion of the class will take place outside)
- Closed Toed Shoes
- Ammunition, 150 rounds minimum
Optional Items:
- Baseball Cap
- Holster
Due to insurance restrictions I can not provide rental firearms at this time.
I do have non-functional and/or facsimile firearms that will be used as demonstrator units during the classroom portion. Because of this, two attendees could share a single firearm between themselves for the live fire portion of the course.
